Featured in this lot is this Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt ceramic decanter made by Grenadier Spirits Company circa 1976. The British company Wade Ceramics created a well-known line of collectible decanters called G.S.C. Grenadier during the 20th century. In the 1960s, the first G.S.C. Grenadier decanter was released, and collectors took an immediate liking to it. The ceramic decanters were usually filled with whiskey, gin, or other alcoholic beverages. Each decanter had an intricately detailed decoration and a cork stopper. Wade Ceramics produced numerous variants of the Grenadier decanters over the years, including limited edition models for celebrations and anniversaries. The company also made decanters with other historical and military themes, like Sherlock Holmes and the Royal Marines. This ceramic decanter shows Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt on horseback. looking into the distance as he holds the reins to his horse. The decanter shows great detail, in Teddy's outfit showing a large tied scarf around his neck, glasses on his face, a bent cowboy hat on his head and his sword on his hip. Hr wears tan gloves and black boots with his pants and button up coat being brown. On his horse is a saddle, a pack in the front and back and a rope on the side. The horse shows a beautiful brown/red and black color. The bottom part of the decanter reads, "Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt" in white lettering. When you lift his hat off his head, the cork is exposed and can be pulled out to pour or fill with spirits. The very bottom of the decanter reads, "Born: Oct. 27th, 1858 Died: Jan. 6th, 1919 / Dated: June 1976, Another Grenadier © Original G.S.C.". The decanter shows good condition with the only sign of damage is the tip of his sword is broken off. No other signs of damage are noted. The decanter measures 10" L x 4 1/2" W x 12 1/4" H.
