Featured in this lot is this 1985 fourth edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's, "The Hobbit". J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy book "The Hobbit" was first released in 1937. The narrative centers on the peaceful hobbit Bilbo Baggins, who is persuaded by the wizard Gandalf to join a group of dwarves on a mission to recover their treasure from the dragon Smaug. They must use their cleverness and bravery to survive as they come into contact with trolls, goblins, enormous spiders, and a mysterious creature by the name of Gollum. In the end, Bilbo confronts Smaug and aids the dwarves in recovering their treasure, but his adventure and the magical ring he now possess have permanently altered him.
The book shows an all green cover with the titled reading, "The Hobbit" in silver gilt lettering. The spine features the title, the author and the publishers name in the same silver gilt lettering. The book shows no signs of use, wear or damage. It measures 8 1/4" L x 5 11/16" W x 7/8" D.
