Featured in this lot is this 1992 modern copy of “Personal Memoirs of General P.H Sheridan”. The front appears to be inscribed or autographed with a portrait engraving. The book was published by Charles L. Webster & Company, New York in 1888 and press of Jenkins & McCowan. The set is a 1992 modern printing and includes the complete set with both Volume I and Volume II. The books have a vast wealth of information on the Civil War and, more specifically, Sheridan’s insights on the subject. Each volume contains different rare steel engraved portraits of Sheridan as front pieces, as well as portraits of other figures like Generals Gregg, Torbert, Merritt, James Wilson, Emory, Horatio Wright, and George A. Custer. In addition, there are 25 maps of Civil War campaigns and 1 of the Indian Campaign of 1868-69. The condition of this two volume set is pristine and like-new, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this pair of books are 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" for both.
