For your consideration is this African Yoruba Ivory Coastal brass necklace, appearing to be dated form the late 19th century to early 1900's. The necklace shows a twisted straw design with coiled brass bells adorning the majority of the necklace (34 total bells). Yoruba is one of the three largest ethnic groups of Nigeria concentrated in the southwestern part of that country. Much smaller, scattered groups live in Benin and northern Togo. The condition of this necklace is good, with two bells heavily coated with patina; the other bells are in good condition for their age. The measurement of this Yoruba necklace, from necklace knot to the bottom of the necklace, is 13".
