Featured in this lot is this 19th century ornate signal cannon swivel barrel. The signal cannon is wonderfully and professionally crafted brass construction that shows a ornate decoration to the outside of the signal cannon with some script to the top of the signal cannon with the fuse opening towards the back and a opening to place the charge. Signal cannons like this were generally used to make salutes to other vessels, warn of danger, or attract the attention of another vessel in case of emergency. The condition of this signal cannon is good with a patina to the cannon but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this signal cannon is 5 1/8" x 2" x 1". The collective weight of this signal cannon is 4oz.
