The lot features a beautiful circa 19th-century beaded signal mirror case flat bag from the Crow Apsáalooke / Apsaalooke of Montana from the ex-Fighting Bear Antiques Terry Winchell collection. The bag is comprised of Indian brain tanned buckskin hide that is sinew sewn with old trade clothes border and trade threads. The front and top edge is covered in classic Crow geometric beadwork with the hourglass triangle design on a light blue background showing overall colors of Cheyenne pink, red white heart, greasy yellow, medium green, greasy green, semi-transparent lilac, blue, greasy red, semi-transparent amber, medium blue and light padre blue. Some of the beadwork is missing from the top beaded opening exposing the sinew threads. The back shows Indian brain tanned buckskin with wear through., with several holes and a slightly stiffened hide. The bag would have held a trade mirror / signal mirror and possibly used as a tobacco pouch in the circa 1870-1890's. Crow Apsaalooke of Montana.
