The lot features two original 19th Century Plains Native American Indians carved wood drum stick pounders from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. These are both solid wood with wonderful carving and are attributed as war drum pounders from the Plains of the 19th Century. Both have a deep coloring and wonderful carved designs, one with a spiral ridged design and the other with a squared head having a checkered finish. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce was also the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery, this piece is directly from the collection. Each measures approx. 12.75”L.
