The lot features an original American powder horn from the Plains Indians of the mid-19th Century showing zig-zag and horse engravings. The powder horn is comprised of a steer horn vessel with wood cap end. The wood cap has a brass ornamental loop and the end shows a carves cone like tip. The entire horn shows amazing hand engravings scrimshaw with a geometric "X" and zig-zag pattern commonly seen on Indian carved weapons along with an engraved running horse at the center. The horn is well kept with a nice deep coloring. Measures overall 6"L from tip to end and 2.75"D.
