This is a wonderful engraved powder horn from the Pueblo Indians dating to the 19th Century recovered from the Jemez Pueblo Indian Reservation near Albuquerque, NM. The powder horn shows an engraved scrimshaw arrowhead figure with various strike line engravings, possibly kill marks. The end of the horn or spout is made from a brass powder flask top with carved wood cap. Below this is some Indian tanned hide tie having an old flint knapped drill as well as a leather strap with Indian hide tied end. The end of the powder horn shows a carved wood cap with domed large design held with small iron tack nails and having a wide iron loop. One square head large nail is present. Measures approx. 14" from tip to end, hangs 16.5"L and is approx. 4"D.
