The lot features a horsetail hair scalp drop with beadwork from the Lakota Sioux of the 19th-century, this would have been a drop off a war club, tomahawk or dance club. The piece exhibits a scalp immatation drop of horsetail hair on hide with a mineral blue dye to the hair secured to Indian tanned hide which is artfully covered in 1800's classic Sioux goemetric beadwork. THe ebadwork shows a tipi like stepped design with crosses and a band. These are all 1800's period correct glass trade seed beads with colors of greasy yellow, red white heart, greasy green and cobalt dark blue. The hide has a slight yellow ocher / ochre coloring and small fringes on the bottom. The beadwork is sinew sewn and the hair drop is sewn with trade thread. There is a small hole at the top where it would have connected to the club or tomahawk. Measures overall 12-inches long approx. by 1-inches wide.
