This is an original and rare 19th Century Southern Plains German Silver engraved buckle from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The piece is constructed of German Silver and is in a round flat shape showing a buckle, harness piece or ornament. The top has outstanding roll engraving. The back is marked with a museum inventory number 06.08.24, CC, and BV0313 $450. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Good overall condition with expected wear from age.
