The lot features a collection of two 19th-century time pieces; the circa 1884 Sun-Dial Fahyes No. 1 Pocket Watch with silver case and the 19th-century Waterbury Clock Co. Brass carriage clock in a unique smaller size. T The carriage clock shows a brass and bevelled glass case with porcelain face marked, “WATERBURY CLOCK CO. U.S.A.” as well as their logo which is a stylized WCCo. The back of the brass movement is marked, “PATENTED JAN. 13, 91, JAN. 28, 01, APR 05. Waterbury Clock Co. U.S.A.” Patents put the carriage clock at late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The pocket watch shows an early silver like case with bevelled cut glass top having the white dial with Roman Numeral indiceses and is marked, “SUN - DIAL”. When the back of the case is removed it exposed the movement with wonderful etched pattern and is marked, “SUN-DIAL U.S.A.” as well as “SAFETY PINION” and a serial number of 7448519. The case itself is marked on the inside, “FAHYS ORESILVER (maltese cross stampings) No. 1 / PAT. FEB. 19TH 1884” with a serial number of 5302551. The carriage clock does wind and appears to function, to what level of function is unknown. Condition of the carriage clock is good to fair with patina on the brass, a beveled glass panel present on the side and the other sides panel and front panel not present. The Sun-Dial pocket watch winds and when the internal spring is moved, appears to function, second hand runs, and continues, to what level the watch is running is unknown. Case shows patina, glass is present. Watch is in good condition overall. Carriage clock measures 2-inches by 1 3/8-inches by 2 7/16-inches and weights approx. 6 ounces. The pocket watch is 3 ¼-inches by 2 ¼-inches by ¾-inches. NOTE: Both watch and clock continued to tick and function to a point for a prolonged period of time. Appear to function.
