This is a fantastic circa 19th Century Buffalo Bison hide beaded whirling log men's cuff from the Yankton Sioux Native American Indians from the Lowell Baier conservationist and historic Native American and Teddy Roosevelt collector. The single cuff is comprised of Great American Bison Buffalo Indian tanned hide with classic period correct 19th Century geometric beadwork showing a rare whirling logs symbol at the center and two five-point stars, eight cross and other shapes. The beadwork is all sinew sewn. The beadwork includes a greasy blue background with other colors of chalk white, red white heart, greasy yellow, cobalt and red. The piece is professionally framed with museum glass 99% UV protection TRU VUE in a very nice rustic frame and is noted in the frame as "Yankton Sioux Cuff". The cuff shows some bead loss and some beads lose in the frame. Provenance: From the iconic Lowell Baier collection of Native American, Western Art and Teddy Roosevelt museum pieces. Lowell Baier is one of America’s greatest modern conservationist. Cuff by itself measures approx. 10" by 6". The frame is 11.25" by 14.25" by 1" thick.
