The lot features a set of 19th-century beaded men's moccasins from the Sioux of the Northern Plains. The set exhibits Indian tanned hide buckskin tops that is sinew sewn and has hard rawhide parfleche bottom soles with a nice foot worn pattern. The beadwork is sinew and trade thread sewn with a banded border and "crazy" salt and pepper central design all done in 1800's glass trade seed beads. The border is in colors of chalk white and cobalt and the central colors include greasy yellow, greasy green, red white heart, amber, blue, chalk white, orange, semi-transparent green, amongst others. The top has the original tongue. These are nice 1800's men's warrior moccasins in a nice large size showing some good wear, slight loss to the hide at the back of the ankle, little to no bead loss, done almost entirely in sinew with a few repairs in trade thread, typical of early Indian Wars era moccasins. Measures overall 10.5--inches long across the sole by 4-inches wide by 4-inches high at the back of the ankle.
