This is a wonderful set of ceremonial completely / fully beaded moccasins from the Sicangu Brule Sioux of the Rosebud Indian Reservation from the 19th Century. The set shows Indian tanned buffalo / bison hides covered on all sides and the bottoms with 1800's glass trade seed beads showing a classic Sioux geometric pattern done in sinew sewing. The old beads show a base of chalk white with mostly rare and desirable red white heart beads with accents in cobalt. The white beads show a wonderful variation from chalk white opaque to greasy. The set shows the original Indian tanned buckskin forked bifurcated tongue and ties. The hides shows remnants of yellow ocher mineral pigment coloring. The set shows little to no bead loss and display beautifully.
