19th Century Central Plains Beaded Sheath & Knife

This is a wonderful parfleche lined Indian hide covered and beaded Central Plains 19th Century sheath with artfully tacked trade knife. The sheath is comprised of Indian brain-tanned buffalo / bison hide sinew sewn over the parfleche rawhide lining. The original Indian tanned and braided belt strap is still attached. The sheath is beautifully beaded in typical 19th Century Central Plains region design and colors. Beaded in geometric design with colors of Cheyenne pink, greasy yellow, medium blue, dark red white heart, and dark cobalt being sinew sewn. The knife shows a typical trade knife with one piece wood grip having beveled hilt with large copper rivet inlays and covered in various sizes of brass covered metal trade tacks along all four sides and the bottom. The set displays beautifully and is well kept with little to no bead loss. The handle has some dark coloring and lighter spots around the tacks. The knife itself shows two rows of hammered designs, likely a signature of sorts. Provenance: From the ex-Dale Harrison Cincinnati, Ohio collection. The sheath measures 13.5”L with top belt strap by 3.25”W. The knife is 11 7/8”L.
