The lot features a stunning Late-19th century Navajo Transitional period blanket / serape with vivid polychrome coloring and artistic dazzling pattern. This blanket is truly a wonderfully beautiful textile and shows an interwoven stacked serrated diamond geometric pattern with banded ends showing the colors of red, purple, green, indigo, and black as well as natural white. This is a fine, artistic example of a Navajo Transitional Blanket / Serape. The weave is quite nice and shows various lazy lines, truly a finely made piece. The rug is well preserved for its early circa 1890 age and shows little wear with mostly vivid coloring showing some wear from age and slight color fading, expected of such an early piece, but overall is in museum quality. Measures overall 69.5-inches long by 46-inches wide.
