The lot features an original 19th Century Gourd Rattle with carved wood handle attributed to the Pueblo Indians from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The rattle exhibits a gourd top punch dot pierced or engraved pattern showing a wood piece running through the gourd with Indian tanned gasket between the wood and gourd. The wood handle is expertly carved showing two knobs and tapering design, likely from pine or juniper. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. Good overall condition.
