Offered in this lot is an 1868 first edition of "The Life of General Ulysses S Grant" by John S.C. Abbott. Shortly before the Ulysses S Grant’s presidency began, John SC Abbott wrote a biographical sketch of the Civil War hero and general. Abbott wrote what would become one of the best accounts of Grant’s military career and his significant victories in the Civil War. Other noteworthy topics include: The Battle of Shiloh, Battle of Vicksburg, Grant at Missionary Ridge, Notes on Abraham Lincoln’s second Inauguration, and Grant’s perspective on Sherman’s March. This book is in very good condition for its over 150-year age; the construction is strong with minor wear to the brown cover. The book has gold embossed lettering on the spine and Grant’s signature on the cover. The book measures 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" x 1 ¼".
