The ring is wonderfully and professionally crafted 18k yellow gold construction that shows an 'Oscar Friedman' hallmark on the inside of the ring band. The center stone is a natural cushion modified brilliant cut tanzanite that shows measurements of 8.51 x 8.48 x 5.34mm with blue violet color hue, moderate saturation and transparent with a total weight of 2.95 carats. The center stone is profusely decorated with a total of 50 round brilliant cut diamonds that show a color hue of G-H and a clarity of VS-SI with a total approximate diamond weight of 1.13 carats. There are four ribbon sections of blue enamel stringing around the ring. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles).
