The lot features a silver trade cross from the 20th Century on an old trade bead strand. The silver trade cross shows a classic older pattern and is marked at the center HB with a beaver above, on the bottom MONTREAL, outside arms with weeping hearts and along the top with NR. This example is from the 20th Century and is not an original early cross. The cross is similar, and possibly made in the likeness of, other Hudson Bay Trading silver crosses by Narcissi Roy (1765-1814). The necklace strand shows old trade beads including two Venetian Skunk semi-transparent red with white dot beads, Dutch East India wound glass cobalt blue beads, and ten Venetian feather black with white and red stripe beads. The cross is rocker engraved, stamped and punched as well as carved. The necklaces origin is unknown, some refer to these as reproductions. The silver appears to be of a coin or sterling but is not tested. Cross by itself measures 4.5" by 3.25". The necklace stand is approx. 26" total length, circumference (hangs 13" from back to front). Total weight of 85 grams.
