Featured in this lot is this 21.41ct tanzanite VVS1 diamond and platinum necklace with AIG and GIA paperwork. The necklace features an electronically tested platinum ladies cast pendant and chain with a 'Orianne' hallmark shown on the pendant link with a 'PT950' stamp near the hallmark. The center stone is a prong set rectangular cushion cut natural tanzanite gemstone that measures 17.70 x 14.24 x 11.09mm and an exact weight 21.41ct with eye clean clarity and classified as type I with medium dark and moderately strong violet color and a very good cut grade and transmit light with no distortion and is transparent. The center stone and pendant as a whole are decorated with 148 prong set round brilliant cut diamonds that measure 1.80-1.10 x 0.87mm with an approximate weight of 1.00ct and is graded in setting with SI1 - I1 clarity and color gradient of F-G. The pendant features 16 prong set baguette cut (tapered) diamonds that measure 3.00 x 1.40 x 1.19mm to 3.10 x 1.50 x 1.28mm and shows an approximate weight of 0.75ct and are graded in setting with VVS1 to VS1 clarity and a color gradient of F-G. Tanzanite is an exceedingly rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles).
