Included in this lot is a three gallon glazed crock with flower petal lid. The crock originates from the early 20th century. The commercial production of clay products began in the city of Red Wing, Minnesota in 1861 by a German potter by the name of John Paul. For the next 116 years, clay products were made commercially in the City of Red Wing by a number of companies and individuals, with a wide assortment of products from art pottery to water coolers and everything in between. This piece shows a glazed exterior with a lip. The crock has a 3 in blue fired into it, the 3 is smudged which maybe why no further company mark was placed on this crock. The crock has a matching lid with a "petal" pattern and a "Button Knob" that is stamped 3. The crock and lid show good condition overall, with some light wear due to age. The stoneware measures 10 1/2" tall (13" tall with the lid) by 10 1/2" in diameter.
