Featured in this lot is this museum edition bronze sculpture called "Indian Pursuing Buffalo," from artist Alexander Phimister Proctor born in 1860 and died in 1950. This sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction that features a museum edition flat wall hanging version of Proctors work called "Indian Pursuing Buffalo," and shows a Native American man pursuing a buffalo on horseback and wielding a spear. The bronze is marked on the rim of the sculpture: A. Plimister Proctor - Museum Edition. Alexander Phimister Proctor (September 27, 1860 – September 5, 1950) was an American sculptor with the contemporary reputation as one of the nation's foremost animaliers. His ability to capture animals in action, garnered in part from his days tracking them, coupled with his interest in all things Native American, opened a niche for Proctor, one that he parlayed into a long, successful career. The condition of this bronze sculpture is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this bronze sculpture is 10" x 17" x 1 1/4".
