This is an outstanding large original pottery olla bowl with amazing black on white etching / carving from masters, Acoma Indians Michael and Robin Romero. Michael and Robin "Shy-Yai-Zta" Romero are both full Acoma Pueblo Native American Indians, born in 1964 and 1968. Both started the historic art and tradition of pottery at a young early teenage years. Their works are considered some of the finest etched pottery pieces. They are related to other esteemed Native American artists Deborah Aragon, Gertrude Romero and Wilbert Aragon. This large piece features a traditional pottery olla bowl with nice body with the entire outside surface being painted charcoal black and completely hand etched / carved in a phenomenal intricately detailed traditional geometric Acoma pattern, with some of the finest details in any of their other works, along with a regal Rocky Mountain Elk profile which flows into an mountain tree scene. The bottom is signed "R.M. Romero Acoma. N.M." the correct signature for Robin and Michael Romero of Acoma, New Mexico. The piece is well kept with no obvious signs of major damages, no visible chips or cracks with fine detail. Measures overall 11.25"W diameter by 8.75"H.
