Featured in this lot is this polychrome pottery vessel from Acoma Pueblo artist Dolores Sanchez born in 1888 and died in 1991. The pottery vessel features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ceramic construction with polychrome decoration of geometric patterns that shows coloration of black and red natural dyes on a white slip. The pottery vessel is marked on the bottom of the vessel as follows: Dolores Sanchez - Acoma N.M. Dolores Sanchez learned to make pottery from her mother, Josephita Sandoval. She is the mother of noted potters Marie Juanico, Judy Lewis, and Ethel Shields. She is the grandmother of Dolores Aragon, Carolyn Concho, Diane Lewis, Rebecca Lucario, and Charmae Natseway. The condition of this pottery vessel is well preserved with some wear and discoloration to the color but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this pottery vessel is 3 3/8" x 4 3/4" x 4 3/4". The collective weight of this pottery vessel is 8oz.
