Featured in this lot is this silver print called Canyon De Chelly circa 1904 from artist Adam Clark Vroman born in 1856 and died in 1916. The photograph is wonderfully and professionally crafted silver print construction that shows the iconic opening to the Canyon de Chelly which is well known as the birthplace of Navajo Chinle rugs. Adam Clark Vroman (April 15, 1856, La Salle, Illinois - July 24, 1916, Altadena, California) was an American portrait photographer, known primarily for his portraits of indigenous peoples of the Southwestern United States. He was the founder and proprietor of Vroman's Bookstore - the oldest and largest independent bookshop in Southern California. The condition of this framed photograph is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed photograph is 18 1/8" x 16" and the visible art measures 7 3/4" x 6 1/8". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. The silver print is marked with the original collectors sticker that reads: Canyon De Chelly - Adam Clark Vroman - 1904 - Silver Print - "More than a thousand feet!"
