Included is a collection of advertising posters from the early years of Hollywood including the 1939 Western, "The Bronze Buckaroo", one of the race films made by African-American directors and performers for African-American audiences. The race film or race movie was a genre of film produced in the United States between about 1915 and the early 1950s, consisting of films produced for black audiences, featuring black casts. Approximately five hundred race films were produced. Of these, fewer than one hundred remain. Because race films were produced outside the Hollywood studio system, they were largely forgotten by mainstream film historians.
Also included is vintage 1927 ad poster from Curtiss Candies Baby Ruth bar, "That's A Bear of a Bar, Jim!" featuring artwork from renowned Impressionist and illustrator, Philip Lyford, best known for his WWI poster, "In Flanders Fields" and as an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Redbook, American Magazine, Liberty, other magazines.
Also included are 1920s posters for movies, "In The Days of Buffalo Bill" and "Jesse James".
All posters are in good condition, no fading, foxing or other damages noted, largest measures 17"H x 12"W, smallest 14"H x 10.75"W
