Featured in this lot is this Afghan hand knotted tribal Kilim saddle bags circa early 20th century. The saddle bags feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that is hand knotted and shows intricate tribal design with tassels of brighter dyed colors and two large compartments. The saddle bags were be used for both horse and camel and would have been used to stock stores in like food, trade items, laundry or housing parts for nomadic lifestyle. The condition of this Afghan pommel saddle bags is well preserved with some wear tot the inside of the compartments and shows some wear from age to the woven construction but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this saddle bag placement is 76" x 23". The collective weight of this pair of saddle bags is 4lb 6oz.
