Featured in this lot is this Afghan hand woven reversible Chobi Kilim circa 1930 to 1940's. The kilim features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool construction that is flat woven with variety of muted with contrast of vibrant coloration throughout, with geometric patterns heavily shown in the central file with layers of stepped border changing to layers of medallions. The kilim features a very slight fringe. Chobi kilims are hand-woven rugs, particularly popular in Afghanistan, known for their flat weave and distinctive geometric patterns. They're often made from wool and use natural dyes, resulting in a variety of muted colors. Chobi kilims can be used as floor coverings, wall hangings, or even as upholstery. The condition of this Afghan Chobi Kilim is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the kilim or its weave and shows a well preserved overall condition.
