Featured in this lot is this after Frederic Remington (1861-1909) Cheyenne bronze. Frederic Sackrider Remington (October 4, 1861 – December 26, 1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West.
In 1901 Remington modeled this Cheyenne man racing on horseback, featuring a muscular rider and wearing a loincloth, he leans forward clutching a spear and a quirt. His mount is shown flying at a full gallop or "Burning the Air." This is a after Remington cast and would have been created post-mortem. The condition of this bronze is good with no obvious signs of damage to the bronze or the marble base and features a brass plaque on the face of the base. The measurements of this bronze are 11" x 9" x 4 1/2".
