For your consideration is this set of bronzes titled, "Bear & Bull" originally created by Isidore Jules Bonheur (1827-1901) and Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899), presented by American Bronze Casting LTD in 2002. There are two bronze statues in this collection. Bonheur began his career as an artist working with his elder sister Rosa Bonheur in the studio of their father, drawing instructor Raymond Bonheur. At first, he studied painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, before making his debut at the Salon in Paris, a renowned art exhibition. Winning many awards throughout his career, he is best known as one of the 19th century's most distinguished French animalier sculptors. They both show the same scene of the iconic works of a bear mauling a bull and is signed by the artist in the bottom left corner of the base of the bronze and is mounted on a black marble base. The top of the base of the sculpture is marked reading, "R. Bonheur" and the side of the base is marked reading, "American Bronze Casting LTD ©2002". They show good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage noted. They measure 3 3/8" L x 2" W x 2 7/8" H and have a collective weight of 2 pounds and 4 ounces.
