Featured in this lot is this pair of tooled leather western tapaderos attributed to Al Furstnow. This pair of tapaderos is almost identical to a pair of tapaderos made by Al Furstnow, although unmarked the detail and construction is almost identical. The tapaderos show a bubble tooling pattern with monel stirrups in the innards and is adorned with silver conchos to the front and the visible outsides of the tapaderos. A tapadero prevents the rider's boot from slipping through and also prevents brush encountered while working cattle on the open range from poking through the stirrup, injuring or impeding the horse or rider. The condition of this pair of tapaderos is well preserved with some slight wear to the leather and the monel stirrup in its center but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this pair of tapaderos is 15" x 9" x 6 3/4". The collective weight of this pair of tapaderos is 4lb 14oz.
