Offered in this lot is a 1st Edition of, "Alaska and the Klondike Gold Fields" by A.C. Harris and published in 1897. This is a 19th-century account of expeditions in Canada and Alaska, of the discovery of gold and ensuing population booms that followed. Much of the work is devoted to describing gold mining in Yukon camps, though of particular interest is the inclusion of native tribe life of Indians, slaves, and their cultural practices including cannibalism. This 1897 first edition includes an impressive foldout colour map of Alaska. The book features a fantastic illustrated and embossed gold gilt brown cloth bound cover and spine with numerous illustrations throughout.
