For your consideration is this Alcatraz Island United States penitentiary sign, circa 1957. The sign shows a white field and black lettering and reads, “United States Penitentiary - Alcatraz Island Area 12 Acres 1 1/2 Miles to Transport Dock only Government boats permitted others must keep off 200 yards no one allowed ashore without a pass”. The condition of this reproduction sign is fair for its age, with some oxidation to the sign holes. The measurements of this Alcatraz Penitentiary sign are 15" x 12".
