For your consideration is a rare Alice Ryniker watercolor painting, circa 1994. Born on October 14, 1913, she was educated at Billings Public Schools, Eastern Montana College, Montana State College, and University of Washington, Seattle. She took a European Workshop, where she met Pablo Picasso, the most influential artist of the 20th century. She taught in Ryegate, Montana, and at Billings Senior High School. Alice established the Art Department at Rocky Mountain College, where she taught for twenty-three years. The Ryniker- Morrison Gallery was named for her and Bob Morrison, which she was very proud to work with. She taught painting, drawing, and design for more than 25 years, retiring in 1977. This specific piece has an elegant gilded frame with the painting inset, all in pristine condition. The beautiful watercolors define the mountains leading down into lush foliage and a large water feature. The gentle brushwork shows the calmness and beauty of the mountains during summer and the serene cool colors of the water. This painting with a frame is 17 ½” wide and 21 ¾” height.
