The lot features two handmade birch bark model canoes from the early 1900's. The first and largest is stamped "Great Smoky Mtns." and shows porcupine quillwork dyed green, yellow, and red. The smaller birch bark model canoe also has porcupine quillwork in red. Both are sewn with whicker and trade thread. Some porcupine quillwork is lost and there is a slight crack on the larger example as shown. Early tourist trade pieces. The largest measures 17.5" L by 3 3/8" W by 4" H. The smaller example measures 10" L by 2.5" W by 3.25" H.
