Presented in this lot is this Americana Folk Art Limited Edition Giclee on Canvas, "American Classic Barn Door No. 1" by Thomas Langan, #184/550. Old Glory has been interpreted by artisans of many genres, but this folk-art style painting on a barn door is impressive. This limited edition canvas flag is designed to be hung unframed just like the original. The "gallery wrapped" canvas wraps around 1 1/2" thick stretcher bars to add the three dimensional look. Thomas Langan was born in 1942, is a self-taught artist of American Folk Art, and his first carvings were decoys, known as gunning birds and his style was influenced by the functional design of early American decoys. His subjects have grown to include domestic, farm and forest animals; trade signs, whirligigs, salt water fish and weathervanes. Langan's Whistling Swan is in the permanent collection of the Museum of American Folk Art in Manhattan, NYC, and his work has been on exhibition around the world including the Smithsonian Institute. This limited edition giclee on canvas is in excellent condition, the wood stretcher as well. A certificate of authenticity is included. Measures 30"H x 40"W
