For your consideration is this resin dolphin sculpture done by Italian artist Amilcare Santini in the 1950-60s. Amilcare Santini (1910-1975) was an Italian sculptor known for his complex figurative sculptures made from alabaster, marble, and resin. Santini, who was born on April 18, 1910, in Cecina, near Florence, Italy, began his creative career as an apprentice to the sculptor Colombini, who had a significant impact on him. Santini pioneered a process that mixed alabaster, marble, and resin, allowing for mass manufacture of sculptures with the appearance and feel of traditional stone carvings. His works frequently featured classical and romantic themes, such as mythological characters, religious scenes, and animals. After his death in 1975, Santini's legacy was passed down through his family. This sculpture shows a dolphin jumping out of the water with a wave of water following him from underneath. It sits on a marble base and is signed on the back reading, "A. Santini". It shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no major damage noted. It measures 2 1/2" L x 2 1/2" W x 7 1/8" H and weighs 1 pound and 6 ounces.
