Offered in this lot is "Among The Rockies-Pictures of Magnificent Scenes in The Rock Mountains" published by the H.H. Tammen Curio Co., Denver, Colorado, 1904. This pictorial quarto has thirty five pages with black & white pictures of spectacular scenes of COlorado & Utah seen along the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. Illustrated with 74 halftone photos. Brown pictorial wrappers bound with a tan cord and with a large oval on the front cover with a color onlay of a sunrise and mountain train depot. The rest of the front cover has a scene depicting Native Americans: teepee, canoe, bow and arrow, and the like. The rear cover has a large image of Chief Red Cloud. This wonderful book is what today would be known as a "coffee table" book with photos to be enjoyed and spark conversation. On the last page of this book is a 1894 painting of six Native American chiefs on horseback titled, "The Gathering Of The Ghost Dancers", and an inscription of a tribute to the people who "will pass into oblivion" but whose land will forever be beautifully represented. This oblong quarto has some slight minor water damage, foxing but is in overall good condition for its age. The book measures 12.75"L x 11.25"W
