For your consideration is this sterling silver pendent inlayed with an Anasazi pottery shard. From roughly 200 AD to 1300 AD, the Anasazi people, a Native American society, thrived in the American Southwest. A different name for them is the Ancient Puebloans. The Anasazi are renowned for their outstanding architectural accomplishments, which include their multi-story adobe brick buildings and cliff houses. The Anasazi were renowned for their ceramics in addition to their amazing architecture and farming prowess. Anasazi pottery is recognized for its elegance, toughness, and unique patterns. Early Anasazi pottery was frequently plain and unadorned, but as time went on, the Anasazi perfected more complex decorative methods. Intricate designs and patterns were carved, painted, and etched into their ceramics using a variety of methods. Typically, Anasazi pottery was created by hand utilizing regional materials like clay and temper (such as crushed rock or sand). The pottery was then heated to temperatures of up to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit in outdoor kilns. The pendant showcases a rope style border surrounding a stone pottery shard with geometric shapes with colors of brown and beige. The back of the pendant is marked, "925" showing it is made of sterling silver. The pendant shows good condition with a nice light patina to the sterling from its old age. The pendant measures 2 1/2" L x 15/16" W.
