Featured in this lot is this Anatolian Ladik tribal prayer rug circa 19th century. This rug shows a traditional symmetrical pattern adorning this prayer rug. A prayer rug or prayer mat is a piece of fabric, sometimes a pile carpet, used by Muslims and some Christians during prayer. The term “Anatolian rugs” is used to describe rugs from an area of Asia minor and surrounding regions. Some of the oldest carpets in the world can be dated to this region. The intense colors and abstract designs, combined with traditional tribal symbols, makes them a favorite around the globe. The condition of this rug is fair to good with wear consistent with age and a slight fading to certain sections of the rug. The measurements of this rug are 59" x 30 1/4".
