Offered in this lot is a First Edition of "Anecdotal Lincoln Speeches Stories and Yarns of the Immoratal Abe", by Paul Shelby, 1900, publisher Thompson & Thomas of Chicago. This historical collection by Paul Selby, a personal friend of Abraham Lincoln and former editor of the State Journal in Springfield, Illinois, provides an intimate look at Lincoln's life through his famous humor, legal anecdotes, and leadership during the Civil War. Compiled from reliable sources, these include tales from Lincoln's early life, his years as a traveling lawyer, and incidents from his presidency. His most patriotic and influential speeches are arranged chronologically to provide a historical timeline of his statesmanship. The mustard coloured cloth bound silver gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in good overall condition, scuffing and soiling exhibited on covers. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing observed. Measures 6"W x 8"L x 1.5"D, weight is 1lb, 10oz.
