Featured in this lot is this collection of antique brass hanging mercantile spring balance scales circa 19th century and all from different companies. There are three scales in this collection all for mercantile or farming related purposes. The first is a Chatillon's spring balance and the front reads as follows: Chatillon's - Improved Circular Spring Balance - To Weigh 30lb by ounces - Milk Scale - Farro-feed The Ready Ration for Dairy Cows - Warranted New York. The second scale is a Landers Spring Balance scale and reads on the front as follows: Landers Improved Circular Spring Balance To Weigh 30lbs by Ounces - Each 10W is Marked on the Side - The Intermediate Weights on the Circle. The last is a Salter's spring balance scale and reads on the front as follows: No. 60 - Salter's Improved Circular Spring Balance to weight 30lbs by ounces - Each 10lbs is marked on the slide - The intermediate weights on the circle - Made in England - Patent. The condition of this collection of spring balance scales is well preserved with some slight patina adorning the scales consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this collection of scales ranges from 15 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1 1/4" to 15" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/8". The collective weight of this collection of brass scales is 8lb 12oz.
