For your consideration is a collection of Antique Fishing Photographs, circa 1890 to 1910. This collection includes three (3) "Little Queen" format photographs, one "Cabinet Gem" format photograph, and one larger "Paris Card" format. Card-mounted photographs, particularly Cabinet Cards, approx. 4.25" x 6.5", introduced in 1863-1866, revolutionized 19th-century portraiture by offering a larger, more detailed alternative to the smaller carte de visite (CDV), eventually expanding into 30 different sizes. They became popular for parlor display and family albums until the early 20th century, often featuring ornate photographer backmarks. The dominance of professional card-mounted portraits faded around World War I. Fishing in 1890s America was a transitional era, shifting from pure survival to the beginnings of organized sport, while commercial fishing relied on manual labor, sail-powered vessels, and salting for preservation. Anglers used split-bamboo rods, silk lines, and early metal reels, while coastal charters began offering "picnic" trips in sailboats like Sharpies. The photographs are in good preserved condition, age tanning observed. Card mounts exhibit corner cracks and stains. Smallest measures 5"W x 6"L, largest is 7.75"W x 9.75"L. Combined weight is U6.
