For your consideration are two nickel silver bronze Catholic Church INRI crosses with an antique age. Both crosses feature a nickel silver bronze construction with ebony wood inlay in the center of the crosses. Nickel silver bronze contains copper, tin, lead, nickel, and zinc, and has a silvery luster. It's used in a variety of applications, including food and beverage handling equipment, musical instruments, and decorative hardware. The crosses show the crucifixion of Jesus and show a tag at the top reading, "INRI". The letters INRI are initials for the Latin title that Pontius Pilate had written over the head of Jesus Christ on the cross. The words were "Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm", translating to, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews". Below Jesus is a skull and crossed bones representing death, which is subjected to Jesus on the cross. The symbol is prominent in Orthodox icons of the crucifixion, as well as older Roman Catholic icons. The back of the crosses show the Sacred Heart image. In Catholicism, the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a symbol of Jesus's love for humanity and a sign of his divine and human love for his Father and for people. It's also a symbol of Jesus's interior life, which led him to be willing to sacrifice his life for people. In the center of the crosses is where the ebony wood inlay is present and both feature a loop at the top of the cross for hanging purposes or connected a chain to. The larger cross is marked, "Germany" on the bottom back of the cross. The crosses show good condition overall with wear and light patinas present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of major damage is noted. The larger cross measures 1" L x 4 7/8" W x 10 3/8" H, while the smaller cross measures 1" L x 3 1/2" W x 8" H. They have a collective weight of 1 pound.
