Presented in this lot are Antique Railroad Travel Guides, circa 1890 - 1919. Included is "Around The Circle A Thousand Miles through the Rocky Mountains", 1890, published by the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, is a historic travelogue and guidebook detailing a scenic 1,000-mile rail journey through Colorado, showcasing landmarks like the Royal Gorge and high mountain passes such as Cumbres Pass. Also included is "The Overland Trail: Railroad Photo Book", 1914, published by the Southern Pacific Railroad. "The Overland Trail From the Golden Gate to the Great Salt Lake. Along the Southern Pacific-American Canyon Route via Ogden" has a beautiful collection of plates showing the journey along the Southern Pacific Railroad. The journey goes from San Francisco, California, to the Great Salt Lake, Utah, passing through Nevada. With illustrations of San Francisco, a dairy farm at Dixie, Sacramento, an orange grove near Colfax, Donner Lake, Emerald Bay, Truckee River, Reno, Truckee River Dam, Palisade Canyon, Ryndon, the Wasatch Mountains, Salt Lake City, and more. The route this work shows is now the interstate 80, With a colour plate tipped in to the front wrap. Illustrated with twenty-two colour plates. Also included is a deluxe edition of "Rocky Mountains of Canada. A Series of Twenty-Four VanDyck Photogravures" 1915, by Byron Harmon, who published this string-tied portfolio of eighteen black-and-white photos hand colored and printed using the VanDyck photogravure process (#s 5, 16, 17 and 20 missing). Features breathtaking photographs of the Canadian Rockies and wilderness from the turn of the century. Lastly is "Booklets Descriptive of National Parks and National Monuments" published by the United States Railroad Administration, 1919. In 1919, the USRA issued a comprehensive series of informational booklets for individual parks and monuments. These were designed to encourage domestic travel after the war and included specific national park guides for: Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Mount Rainier, Rocky Mountain, Crater Lake, Mesa Verde, Hawaii and Hot Springs. National Monuments Zion and Petrified Forest. Each guide is in nicely preserved condition, age tanning noted. Respective measurements are 5.625"W x 8.375"L, 9.5"W x 12"L, 8.625"W x 12.375"L and, 6.5"W x 9.5"L. Collective weight is 3lb, 2oz.
