Featured in this lot we have a antique Tibetan ritual iron dagger called a Phurba. The Phurba also called the Kilas is a ritual knife used in Buddism primarily by shamans. The knife holds three main points of symbolism at the base of the handle is a set of three faces representing the god of wrath, below that where the grip meets the blades is the head of a dragon, and the three blades represent the severing of sins. This knife was not used in combat but was considered a weapon against the spiritual. The knife is made out of iron and is from the early 19th century. Some Phurba's have been known to have sold in to the three thousands and are quite the collector piece. The knife is in good condition for its age. It measures 8 3/4" long.
