Featured in this lot are two split willow and tooled leather fishing creels from the mid 20th century. These creels resemble the style and looks of two major creel makers, W.H. McMonies and George Lawrence Company, but are unmarked. The first creel, with tooled leather accents, shows a split willow construction with a tight weave and leather top and bottom. The back shows a leather loop handle held in place with metal tacks. The second creel is almost identical, but shows less intricate leather tooling than the first. A shoulder strap can be connected to the back of the creels through two small slots but the creels do no come with shoulder straps. They are secured with a leather and metal buckle on the front. They both show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. Leather straps to secure the lid show the most wear, as well as the loop handles on the back of the creels. They measure from 8" L x 16 1/2" W x 10 1/4" H to 7 5/8" L x 15 1/8" W x 10 1/8" H. They have a collective weight of 4 pounds.
