For your consideration in this lot is an Antique Tombstone, Arizona Territory Postcard, 1904. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. The postcard is titled, "Tombstone's Famous Stage," and shows a stagecoach with men sitting on top. Tombstone a city in Cochise County, Arizona was founded in 1879 after the discovery of silver in what was then Pima County, Arizona. It became one of the last boomtowns in the American Old West frontier. Arguably, Tombstone is mostly known for the infamous Gunfight at the O. K. Corral, between members of the outlaw gang, The Cochise County Cowboys, and local lawmen the Earps - Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan - and Doc Holliday. Written on the top and bottom borders, "This is what people came to on about 2 years ago. We have a railroad now. I really meant to write last week but it was awfully busy. Will try to write this week. H. S. B." Reverse of the postcard is titled at the top, "Cochise Co., Series", cancelled stamp with Tombstone post office and Newark, NJ stamps. The postcard exhibits age tanning and foxing. Measures 3.25"W x 5.5"L, clear protective sleeve is 3.875"W x 5.875"L. Combined weight is U6.
